63.86

疏「機關苦事」者，遠公釋云：「容物動處，名之為機。於中轉者，說以為關。因名為機，苦果隨轉說之為關。」今疏意亦爾，不別配二字。

Regarding the commentary's "the mechanical affairs of suffering," Master Huiyuan explained: "The place where things are accommodated and moved is called 'apparatus' (ji). What revolves therein is called 'barrier / cog' (guan). The cause is named 'apparatus,' and the suffering result revolving along with it is called 'barrier.'" The present commentary's intention is also like this, not assigning the two characters separately.
