Third, the contemplation of all characteristics. Regarding the Commentary's line "Not knowing as it truly is subtle suffering is self-pride": this is the text of the treatise. From "This is precisely excessive pride" onward, the commentary explains the above treatise. However, while the title in the treatise mentions excessive pride, there is none in its explanation; therefore the Commentary points out that in the treatise, self-pride is precisely excessive pride, being spoken of from its origin. From "If one knows" onward explains that it is not excessive pride. As for the statement "Moreover, not knowing as it truly is": the *Nirvāṇa-sūtra* states, "For śrāvakas there is suffering and there are the truths, but there is no ultimate reality."
