7.40

疏「謂佛初」下，別顯三教，即為三別。一一教中各有三定：一時定，謂有初時等故。二法定，謂有空等故。三經定，謂指《阿含》等故。三性等義，至下當辯。

From the commentary's "Meaning that when the Buddha first" downward is the specific revelation of the three teachings, which forms three distinct parts. Within each individual teaching, there are three determinations: first, the determination of time, meaning that there is the first period and so forth; second, the determination of dharma, meaning that there is emptiness and so forth; third, the determination of sūtras, meaning that it points to the Āgamas and so forth. The meanings of the three natures and so forth will be analyzed below.
