73.18

疏「前中池喻」下，第三依論列釋標功德名，皆是論文。餘皆疏釋。然下論隨文釋中，亦自解釋。釋第一池喻，云「依本願修故」。釋第二山德，云「依一切智增上行十地故」。釋第三海喻，云「因果相順故」。今十德遍海，即因順於果；海攬十德，即果順於因。釋第四珠喻，云「過十寶性，即障盡證堅」。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "Within the former, the pond simile..." downward: the third part, enumerating and explaining the labels of the virtues' names in reliance on the Śāstra, are all the Śāstra's text; the rest is all the Commentary's explanation. However, in the explanation following the text below, the Śāstra also explains itself. Explaining the first, the pond simile, it says: "Because of cultivating based on the original vows." Explaining the second, the mountain virtue, it says: "Because of cultivating the ten grounds as superior practice based on omniscience." Explaining the third, the ocean simile, it says: "Because cause and effect correspond to each other." Here, the ten virtues pervading the ocean is the cause corresponding to the fruit; the ocean gathering the ten virtues is the fruit corresponding to the cause. Explaining the fourth, the jewel simile, it says: "Surpassing the ten precious natures means obstacles are exhausted and realization is firm."
