疏「初來意有二」等者，一通，以後三品對前三品；二別，則此品對〈十忍品〉。自有三意：一答第二會初；二「一為遠答」下，答第一會中十海；三「又通」下，顯一部之數。初中復有二意：一直辨菩薩、「又二難思」下明菩薩知佛德。下科偈文，亦具此二意。

Regarding the commentary's "First, the contextual purpose has two aspects...", etc.: first is general, contrasting the latter three chapters with the former three chapters; second is specific, where this chapter corresponds to the "Chapter on the Ten Patiences". This in turn has three intents: 1. answering the beginning of the second assembly; 2. under "First, to answer from afar...", answering the ten oceans in the first assembly; 3. under "Also, generally...", revealing the numbers across the entire work. In the first there are again two intents: directly distinguishing the bodhisattvas; and under "Also, the two difficult-to-conceive...", clarifying the bodhisattva's cognition of the Buddha's virtues. The verse text outlined below also contains these two intents.
