Regarding the Commentary's statement from "Specifically, the title of the chapter..." downward, the text of the Commentary has two parts: first, general; second, specific. In the general part, the statement "The chapter elucidates the practices performed, not the essence of the person who speaks" tacitly criticizes Master Yuan, because he explained: "'Universal' (pu) means everywhere; 'sage' (xian) means virtuous. 'Practice' (xing) is the path and the cause. That is, whether insentient or sentient environments, pervading the dust motes and hair tips of the dharmadhātu is universal; possessing the full ocean of all virtues and goodness is sage; attaining the path and not abandoning the causal practices is the causal practice of it." Subsequently, he broadly quoted from the "Samantabhadra Samādhi Chapter" to explain the meaning of Samantabhadra's body being omnipresent, without ever explaining the characteristics of the implementation of the practices. Furthermore, he attributed "universal" to the person and "sage" to virtue. Therefore, the present text criticizes him, stating: for this reason, one takes the practice from the person; it does not speak of Samantabhadra's body.
