78.58

疏「是以大般若中」下，證於菩薩起嗔中最重。彼說魔見眾生互相是非，亦生歡喜，而非大喜。若見菩薩互相是非，則生大喜，過於常喜。如二虎鬪，小亡大傷，二俱無益。菩薩亦爾，自他並損，皆失二利故。

The Commentary's statement from "Therefore in the Mahāprajñāpāramitā..." downward provides proof that anger arising in a bodhisattva is the most severe. It says there that when Māra sees sentient beings blaming each other, he also rejoices, but it is not great joy. If he sees bodhisattvas blaming each other, he gives rise to great joy, exceeding his ordinary joy. It is like two tigers fighting: the smaller one dies and the larger one is wounded, neither benefiting. Bodhisattvas are also like this: self and others are both harmed, and both lose the two benefits.
