Regarding the Commentary's "Therein are four propositions, namely common within common, etc.": this cites the second fascicle of the *Cheng Weishi Lun*, which cites the *Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra* saying that within common and uncommon there are two kinds each. The two within common are: 1. Common within common, such as mountains and rivers, because they cannot be utilized exclusively by a single destiny alone. 2. Uncommon within common, such as one's own fields and houses, or what pretas see as water, fire, etc., which are objects not mutually utilized by them. The two within uncommon are: 1. Uncommon within uncommon, such as the eye and other sense faculties, which are the objective conditions utilized solely as the support of one's own consciousness, and not the support of others. 2. Common within uncommon, such as one's own external physical sense faculties, because others also receive and utilize them.
