79.18

疏「二約能化謂隨諸眾生」等者，即《淨名》意。能化菩薩非自業成，以大悲故取土攝生及眾生之類。皆《淨名經》。並如〈世界成就品〉引。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "Second, in terms of those able to transform, it means following all sentient beings," and so forth: this is the meaning of the Vimalakīrti[-nirdeśa]. Bodhisattvas who are able to transform do not accomplish this through their own karma; out of great compassion they adopt lands to gather in sentient beings and the classes of sentient beings. These are all from the Vimalakīrti-sūtra, and are cited as in the "Chapter on the Formation of Worlds".
