On the commentary’s "Fifth, manifesting extinction yet marvelously preserved": since extinction is manifested extinction, there is no extinction, hence it is marvelously preserved. The two characters "marvelously preserved" are entirely the title of the fourth chapter of the Nameless. That treatise states: "The sage is in existence without existing, and dwells in non-existence without not-existing; dwelling in non-existence without not-existing, he does not lack non-existence; being in existence without existing, he does not have existence. Therefore, he can neither emerge from existence and non-existence nor abide in existence and non-existence; tranquil and without sign, this is marvelous preservation." However, "appearing and disappearing while ever serene" also explains appearing, whereas here it is only without extinction, so they are not the same.
