疏「故以一」下，以一對九，互融相成，結成上義。九約於義，一約實體，體用相融，故常九常一無有障礙；體用相奪，離九一相，故同果海。

Regarding the commentary's statement, "Therefore by means of one" downward, matching the one against the nine, they mutually interpenetrate and establish each other, concluding the above meaning. Nine is in terms of the meaning, one is in terms of the real essence; essence and function mutually interpenetrate, so they are constantly nine and constantly one without obstruction. Essence and function mutually negate, leaving behind the characteristics of nine and one; thus they are identical with the ocean of fruit.
