82.14

疏「初有八句別知緣相」者，十二因緣相。二「知迷下十二句知染淨」者，即雙知性相。迷悟染淨猶是約相，廣如六地。第一義中二俱叵得，即約性說。三「知住下明知心行」者，即能知性相觀照之心。此中可以寂照虛懷而了，亦為明示心觀處也。

Regarding the Commentary's "First, there are eight phrases specifically knowing the characteristics of conditions": these are the characteristics of the twelve links of dependent origination. Second, "From 'knowing delusion' onward, twelve phrases know defilement and purity": that is, knowing both nature and characteristics. Delusion and awakening, defilement and purity, are still explained in terms of characteristics, as extensively treated in the sixth bhūmi. In the ultimate truth, neither can be apprehended, which is spoken of in terms of nature. Third, "From 'knowing abiding' onward, clarifying knowledge of the mental activity of the mind": that is, the mind of contemplation that can know nature and characteristics. Here, one can realize it with a tranquil, illuminating, and empty mind; this also clearly indicates the locus of mental contemplation.
