84.79

疏「又若以開顯」下，第四開顯有殊。《法華》對昔，以權覆實故。今開顯萬行，同歸《華嚴》，直顯一實深玄。須對權令知，故如聾啞。於中三：初法說、二「其猶」下況喻、三「是以若約」下法合。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "Furthermore, if considered in terms of unfolding and revealing" and so on, this is the fourth point: there are differences in unfolding and revealing. The Lotus Sūtra addresses the past, where the expedient concealed the real. Here, it unfolds and reveals the myriad practices as equally converging in the Avataṃsaka, directly revealing the profound and mysterious single reality. Because it must be contrasted with the expedient to make them understand, they are as if deaf and mute. Within this there are three parts: first, the statement in terms of Dharma; second, the illustration by metaphor starting from "It is just like"; third, the synthesis of the Dharma starting from "Therefore, if viewed in terms of".
