Regarding the Commentary's text from “If upon the consciousness of the listener...” onward, it clarifies that the teaching of reflected images relies on the Buddha's archetype, transformed by one's own mind. If transformed by a contaminated mind, names and so forth are contaminated. From “Buddhabhūmi-śāstra” onward, it adduces proof that there are reflected images. This is also like the previous fascicle where the Buddha is taken as the condition, and the reflected image of text and meaning in one's own mind is taken as the result. Regarding the Commentary's text from “The characteristics of this text and meaning...” onward, it explains and also resolves potential objections. For there might be an objection: If so, and it is transformed by one's own mind, why is it called the Buddha's preaching? Therefore, taking it up, it explains: one's own wholesome [roots] are the cause, the Buddha's power is the condition, and the reflected image is the result. Now, in accordance with the condition, it is called the Buddha's preaching.
