Regarding the Commentary's text from “Therefore the Viṃśikā-vijñaptimātratā...” onward, this is the second part, which cites the treatise to jointly verify the previous two. Thus both the archetype and the reflected image teachings exist simultaneously. That is, if the listener serves as the sovereign condition, the characteristics of text and meaning arise upon the Buddha's mind; if the Buddha serves as the sovereign condition, the characteristics of text and meaning arise upon the listener's mind. Therefore it is said: “reciprocal sovereign power.” The Tathāgata's consciousness and the listener's consciousness are called the two consciousnesses, definitively establishing the teachings of the archetype and the reflected image. Regarding the Commentary's “Treatise Master Dharmapāla” and so on, it is because the various masters of Vijñaptimātra all equally establish this. The commentary by Dharma Master Dacheng states: “However, this treatise master does not fail to preach the Dharma, and therefore this interpretation is adopted.”
