As for the Commentary's 'Second, explaining the names', the text of the Commentary has two parts: first, directly explaining the names; afterwards, revealing the essence and characteristics. Now for the first. The sūtras and treatises explain them extensively; their text is briefly provided, and they will be explained again in the fifth bhūmi. Now we shall briefly analyse them: first, deriving the name; afterwards, explaining the name. Within the former, the text has three sections: 1. Paired indication of the two meanings; 2. From '"Truth" (satya) means real and true' downwards, a paired explanation of the two meanings. 'Truth' applies to both meanings, whereas the single word 'noble' belongs solely to discerning truth. 3. From 'The Yogācārabhūmi' downwards, adducing proofs for the two meanings. The nature of dharmas (dharmatā) is the 'real and true'; superior resolve (adhimukti) is 'discerning truth'.
