From the Commentary's 'showing a model for later followers' onward, it individually reveals the intent; this is the sixth meaning. When the Commentary states: 'Clarifying that when about to expound, one must purely observe the preceding principle,' this contains the first four meanings. 'Purely' means free from conceptual thought. 'Observing' means realizing the essence of phenomena. 'Purely observing the preceding principle' means contemplating the capacity and examining the Dharma, because the word 'preceding' includes the capacity. The Buddha's empowerment can be known. From 'rising from concentration and uttering speech' onward, it also clarifies that without realization one does not expound, and also generally reveals the superior function of the preceding six.
