Regarding the Commentary's statement: 'Second, properly revealing what is done,' and so forth, the text of the Commentary has three parts: first, listing the names; second, from 'The treatise does not indicate...' downwards, presenting the essence; third, from 'Therefore, contrasting body with activity...' downwards, discriminating [them]. Within this there are two parts: first, establishing the four propositions; second, from 'Regarding the body pertaining to having essence...' downwards, presenting the reason for the four distinctions. This is because activity pertains to having function, just as the sun-like body can only abide brilliantly. Regarding the words 'it is not the primary purpose,' the original intent was not to cause them to see one another; thus there is neither activity nor essence. The present sūtra omits it.
