Regarding the commentary's statement from "These two being correlated should form four propositions" onward: this is the fifth [section], distinguishing doctrinal approaches. Within this there are four: first, establishing the four propositions in terms of the second approach of resembling existence and lacking nature; second, clarifying non-identity and non-difference in relation to the first approach; third, using this to illustrate the other three approaches; fourth, using this to illustrate and explain the preceding and following [passages]. Now for the first, establishing the four propositions: 1. non-difference; 2. non-identity; 3. neither non-identity nor non-difference; 4. neither both identity and difference. The defects to be dispelled are: 1. difference; 2. identity; 3. neither identity nor difference; 4. both identity and difference. One should reflect on this as in the commentary. The second [fascicle] of the Laṅkāvatāra terms these false conceptualizations of views, which is why they must be refuted.
