Regarding the Commentary's statement: "In my youth I sought..." and so forth, this is the second part, personally recounting what was seen and heard. Within this there are two: first, narrating the reasons for arriving at the mountain. Because of the text stating that this bodhisattva's dwelling place is Qingliangshan, at that time rebel brigands disturbed regular order, arms and weapons arose like a swarm of bees, jackals and wolves filled the roads, and mountains and rivers blocked passage; yet, undaunted, I traveled there, hence it says "entrusting my life and finding refuge." Although the journey was five thousand [li], there and back was ten thousand li. At first it was originally a temporary excursion, but day after day I yearned for the sacred realm. For fifteen years I composed the Commentary, and upon reaching this point, it has been exactly ten years.
