From the first section there are thirty-two lines of verse, divided broadly into two sections. First, from 'the assembly of the Śuddhāvāsa heavens' downward there are twenty-eight lines of verse, explaining the division where the assembly of the Śuddhāvāsa heavens hears the Dharma, raises offerings, and sees that the Buddha's virtues are vast and boundless. The Śuddhāvāsa heavens are the assembly of bodhisattvas of the ninth ground, who are the assembly of the third dhyāna heavens. The subsequent tenth ground is the stage of the fourth dhyāna. From the first ground where one mostly becomes a king of Jambudvīpa, to the second ground where one is a Trāyastriṃśa king, if one arranges them in order, it can be understood. This symbolizes that their ease of progress is like that of devas, yet they do not merely act as deva kings. Each stage explains that their practice is all-pervading and sovereign like devas; this generally explains the heavens of ultimate truth and the heavens of all-knowledge, not that one is born in the heavens as a retribution of lower-grade ten wholesome karmas like those gods. Second, from 'thereupon Bodhisattva Vimukticandra' downward there are four lines of verse, explaining the division of requesting the gate of practice of the tenth ground. The meaning within the text is complete as found in the sūtra itself.
