Among these ten practices, from the initial Bhikṣu Sudarśana below down to the mendicant heterodox practitioner named Sarvagāmin, these are the ten kalyāṇamitras within the ten practices. Within this first initial practice, from 'Just as all bodhisattvas' down to 'bowed and took his leave' consists of eleven lines of sūtra text, whose doctrinal meaning is broadly divided into five gates: 1. acknowledging virtues and progressing onward; 2. indicating the direction and place of the kalyāṇamitra; 3. identifying the name of the land; 4. identifying the name and title of the kalyāṇamitra; 5. paying homage and taking leave. From 'Just as all bodhisattva-mahāsattvas' down is acknowledging virtues and progressing onward. The meaning of the south is as explained initially. The land is named Three Eyes: first, the Dharma eye; second, the wisdom eye; third, the prajñā eye. As in acknowledging virtues, the wisdom eye is free of cataracts, universally beholding the dharmadhātu, and the mind of prajñā is vast. This is the land of Three Eyes, which clarifies that in accordance with the world to benefit sentient beings, the wisdom eye contemplates their capacities, the Dharma eye knows phenomena, and the prajñā eye discerns the correct from the deviant. These three are one; according to their functions, three are spoken of.
