Fifth, just as the great ocean can receive great rain, so that immeasurable great rain pours into it at one time, yet the water and the ocean are both of the same ocean taste without before or after, this sūtra is also like this: for this sūtra explains that at the initial mind of the ten abodes, when one first arouses the mind [for bodhi], one straightaway attains perfect awakening, equally obtaining the single taste of all the Tathāgata's knowledge. The sūtra says: 'Through minor expedient means, one swiftly attains bodhi'—such persons as Sudhana, the dragon girl, and others are examples of this.
