Regarding the ninth, the mind-only pure land: when one personally verifies that one's own mind in its very essence is without mind, its nature is solely true wisdom that does not dwell on purity or defilement; according with reality and following its nature, the mind is free of resentment and folly, free of greed, hatred, and ignorance; following great compassion and wisdom to bring peace and joy to sentient beings, this is the real pure land. Because one is oneself pure, one teaches and guides sentient beings to make them pure as well. Therefore the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa Sūtra says, "Only when one's mind is pure is the buddha-land pure; one who wishes to be born in a pure land should purify their mind."
