Second, regarding the Buddha's realm as seen by the devas: they merely correspond to their own seen realm, and seeing the Buddha is likewise so, according with the breadth or narrowness of their own perception. For instance, Śakra, the Brahmā King, and the various deva kings are themselves bodhisattva stages; thus one assigns the breadth or narrowness of the realm of the Buddha's gathering and transforming that they see in accordance with their bodhisattva stages, not according with ordinary celestial beings and humans. For example, Śakra is at the stage of a second-ground bodhisattva, up to gradually ascending to the Brahmā Heavenly King who is at the stage of a tenth-ground bodhisattva. Sometimes, by the Buddha's supernatural power to bring sentient beings to fruition, ordinary beings among devas and humans, as well as the two vehicles and lesser bodhisattvas, are all caused to see the realm of the Buddha's reward land, just as in the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa Sūtra where the pure land is revealed when the Buddha presses the earth with his toe. Sometimes, by the Buddha's supernatural power, devas and humans are also caused to see one another mutually, just like the Place of Jeweled Workshops spoken of in the Mahāsaṃnipāta Sūtra, where the great assembly of devas and humans above the desire realm and below the form realm are all gathered within it, as described in that sūtra.
