經曰「阿難白佛」至「因能致此」者，述云：此次、阿難答勝也。底者，最也。廝下者，陋下之義。殆（徒改反），近也幾也。坐者，罪也。《蒼頡篇》「坐，辜也」。《鹽鐵論》曰「什伍相連，親戚相坐」也。怙（胡古反），福也。廝極者，盡疲之義。享者，《爾雅》「福厚也」。

Regarding the sūtra saying from “Ānanda addressed the Buddha” down to “the causes that can bring this about,” the commentary states: Next, Ānanda replies regarding the superiority. *Di* (底) means “the most.” *Sixia* (廝下) has the meaning of lowly and base. *Dai* (殆, pronounced *tu-gai*), means “near” or “almost.” *Zuo* (坐) means “guilt” or “crime.” The *Cang Jie pian* says: “*Zuo* means offense.” The *Yantielun* says: “The groups of tens and fives are linked together, and relatives implicate (*xiangzuo*) one another.” *Hu* (怙, pronounced *hu-gu*) means “blessing.” *Siji* (廝極) has the meaning of utter exhaustion. *Xiang* (享): the *Erya* says, “It means abundant blessing.”
