2.83

經曰「佛語阿難」至「汝自當知」者，述云：此第二、佛不許也。饒者，即釋自在之言。既發大願故，汝亦能知，即違請之言也。

On the passage where the sūtra states, "The Buddha told Ānanda..." up to "you should know yourself": The commentary states: This is, secondly, the Buddha not granting permission. Rao explains the word "at ease" (zizai). Since he has already made the great vows, he is also capable of knowing; these are words declining the request.
