The sūtra says: "The Buddha told Maitreya" down to "falling behind others." The commentary states: This second part admonishes people to cultivate renunciation. There are four parts: 1. directly admonishing them to cultivate renunciation; 2. Maitreya's comprehension; 3. reiterating the admonition to cultivate renunciation; 4. reiterating Maitreya's comprehension. The first part also has two: this first admonishes them to practice. Desiring to make devas and humans swiftly cultivate renunciation, he therefore addresses Maitreya again to admonish them. "Worldly affairs" refers to the aforementioned affairs of the three poisons. "Yong" (用) means "thereby"; "zuo" (坐) means "due to." Worldly people, due to these affairs of the three poisons, cannot return to the true and are far from the Way; hence it says they "cannot attain the Way." "Fu" (負) means "to violate."
