3.59

經曰「滅諸煩惱離惡趣心」者，述云：此第二、離過。有說：因盡故滅煩惱，果盡故離惡趣心。非也。果非唯心故。今即離惑故離煩惱，業盡故離惡趣心。

The sūtra says: "Extinguishing all afflictions, and free of any mind toward bad destinies." The commentary states: This is the second [part], leaving behind faults. Some say: because causes are exhausted, they extinguish afflictions; because effects are exhausted, they are free of any mind toward bad destinies. This is not correct. For the effects do not consist solely of mind. Here, by leaving delusion behind they are free of afflictions, and because their karma is exhausted they are free of any mind toward bad destinies.
