Fifth, from 'The Buddha told Vaidehī' down to 'enabling you to see' directly clarifies that the Queen is a pṛthagjana and not a sage. Because she is not a sage, she relies reverently on the invisible assistance of the sacred power, so that although that land is far away, it can be seen. This clarifies that the Tathāgata feared sentient beings would harbor doubt, saying that the Queen was a sage and not a pṛthagjana. Due to giving rise to doubt, they would naturally develop timidity and weakness: 'Indeed, Vaidehī is a bodhisattva manifesting in the form of a pṛthagjana. Sins like ours can in no way compare.' To sever this doubt, he therefore said, 'You are a pṛthagjana.' 'Inferior thoughts of mind' means that because she is a pṛthagjana, she never had great aspirations. 'Not yet having attained the divine eye' clarifies that the range seen by the Queen's fleshy eye is not worth mentioning. How much less so the Pure Land, which is so far away—how could it be seen? 'The Buddhas, the Tathāgatas, have extraordinary expedient means' and so forth clarifies that if one sees the adornments of the land in accordance with the mind, this is not something you as a pṛthagjana are capable of; all merit belongs to the Buddha.
