"'On both sides of the platforms, there are respectively ten billion flower-banners and immeasurable musical instruments as adornments. Eight kinds of pure breezes emanate from the light, blowing upon these musical instruments and expounding the sounds of suffering, emptiness, impermanence, and non-self.'" Flower-banners and musical instruments surround on four sides; when the wind stirs, sounds emerge, expounding the Dharma to awaken the assembly. The winds arise from the eight directions, hence they are called "eight kinds." In that land there are no seasonal periods; this is spoken provisionally in relation to this world, hence it simply says "eight." Dharmas such as suffering and emptiness are precisely the four applications of mindfulness: contemplating the body as impure, contemplating feelings as suffering, contemplating the mind as impermanent, and contemplating phenomena as non-self. By means of these four dharmas, the four inverted views are counteracted. The word "emptiness" in the text provisionally corresponds to the contemplation of the body; when one recognizes the inverted view and false reckoning is eliminated, what could it be called if not emptiness? Second, the concluding instruction.
