2.84

「佛告阿難：『汝持佛語，為未來世一切大眾欲脫苦者，說是觀地法。』」勅阿難者，以前二觀止是此方之物以為發觀之端，及觀寶地心達彼方，定能脫苦破障除疑。重囑轉教，意見于此。二、正彰利益，二：初、破障；二、除疑。初、破障。

"The Buddha told Ānanda: ‘Uphold the Buddha’s words, and for the sake of the great assembly of all future ages who wish to be liberated from suffering, preach this method of contemplating the ground.’" The reason for enjoining Ānanda is that the previous two contemplations merely took things of this realm as the starting point for developing contemplation, whereas once one contemplates the jeweled ground, the mind reaches that other land and is certain to be able to escape suffering, destroy hindrances, and eliminate doubt. The intention of re-entrusting for dissemination lies here. Second, directly showing the benefits, in two parts: first, destroying hindrances; second, eliminating doubt. First, destroying hindrances.
