3.257

「佛說此語時，尊者目犍連、尊者阿難，及韋提希等，聞佛所說，皆大歡喜。」歡喜者，一所未曾聞今得聞故、二清淨國土得往生故、三展轉開示利生無窮故，具斯諸義，故懷大喜。二、轉說流通，三：初、佛還本處；二、阿難轉說；三、眾聞禮散。初、佛還本處。

"When the Buddha spoke these words, the Venerable Maudgalyāyana, the Venerable Ānanda, Vaidehī, and the others, hearing what the Buddha said, all rejoiced greatly." As for rejoicing: first, because what they had never heard before they have now obtained to hear; second, because they will attain rebirth in the pure land; third, because through successive transmission and explanation the benefit to sentient beings will be endless. Endowed with these various meanings, they embraced great joy. Second, transmitting the teaching for propagation, which has three [parts]: first, the Buddha returns to his original place; second, Ānanda re-expounds it; third, the assembly hears it, pays homage, and disperses. First, the Buddha returns to his original place.
