"‘Endowed with these merits from one day up to seven days, they will immediately attain rebirth.’" As few as one day, as many as seven days: raising the few illustrates the many, intending to make prominent the excellence of the merit. Thus one knows that if a bodhisattva's great practice can be practiced even for a single moment of thought, it still serves as the seed of Buddhahood; how much more so for one day or seven days—how could they not attain rebirth? Second, eliciting the superior conditions has three [parts]: first, the arrival of the assembly of sages to welcome them; second, Amitāyus's illumination with light; and third, the sages speaking with one voice. First, the arrival of the assembly of sages to welcome them.
