"‘Having heard these matters, their life immediately ends. As swiftly as a strong man bends or extends his arm, they are born in the Western World of Utmost Bliss.’" In this [passage] there should also be such matters as holding a flower and coming to receive them at the end of life, but the text abbreviates and does not describe it. The time it takes a strong man to bend or extend [his arm] also means a brief moment; the wording varies between earlier and later passages. Fourth, the benefits after birth, which has three parts: first, the flower opening; second, hearing the Dharma; third, attaining the Way. First, the flower opening.
