The sūtra says: "Above there are storied pavilions, likewise adorned with gold, silver, lapis lazuli, crystal, tridacna, red pearls, and agate." Next, this explains the fifth: the pearl terraces reach up to the sky. The *Treatise on the Sūtra of Immeasurable Life* states that this is called the adornment of the ground, which is the perfect purity of visible forms, referring to the pure radiance of the terraces and pavilions made of the seven jewels. According to the *Contemplation Sūtra*, there are multi-jeweled storied pavilions everywhere; why would they be only on the ground?
