經曰：「舍利弗！當知我於五濁惡世行此難事乃至是為甚難」，釋此自敘甚難中分有四句：一、我於五濁等者，敘出穢方；二、得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提者，敘證勝果；三、為諸眾生說等者，敘授祕術；是為甚難者，結上三事難作能作也。

The sūtra says: 'Śāriputra, you should know that my performing this difficult deed in the evil world of the five turbidities... up to: this is extremely difficult.' Explaining this self-recounting of what is extremely difficult, there are four clauses: first, 'I in the five turbidities...' recounts appearing in a defiled realm; second, 'attaining anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi' recounts realizing the superior fruit; third, 'preaching for the sake of sentient beings...' recounts bestowing the secret method; fourth, 'this is extremely difficult' concludes that being able to perform these three difficult deeds is indeed difficult.
