Regarding "I have heard": the bodhisattva transmitting the Dharma points to his own person and says, "Such Dharma was personally heard from the Buddha," hence it is called "I have heard"; it does not mean that "I" definitively belongs to a single [real] person. "I" refers to the conventional designation based on the aggregates. However, "I" has three types: First, the falsely grasped "I," referring to the "I" arbitrarily conceptualized by non-Buddhists and others. Second, the conventionally established "I," referring to the permanence, bliss, self, and purity of great nirvāṇa, forcibly designated to eliminate the inversions of the two vehicles. Third, the conventionally circulating "I," referring to names commonly transmitted in the world such as Devadatta and Yajñadatta. Now, the transmitter of the Dharma complies with worldly convention, pointing to himself and calling it "I."
