From here down is the third [part], entering the text to interpret it. The text has three divisions: preface, main body, and propagation. Within the preface division, there are six clauses. Among them, the first two are the indicative clauses, and the subsequent four matters substantiate the first two. "Thus" generally cites the Dharma that was heard, indicating a mind of faith and compliance. "I have heard" specifically mentions the person capable of hearing, indicating an intention of non-contention. The four below then cite two pairs to substantiate, clarifying the recollection of the time and place of hearing, to establish that the one capable of hearing was not mistaken. Since there are the Great Master and the great assembly, this confirms that what was spoken is trustworthy. The details therein may be known as usual.
