案僧亮曰：第二難。若性因緣成，菩提心是性，闡提不應斷，斷則非性也。寶亮曰：佛若以菩提心名為佛性者，現見闡提斷善根，是則闡提無佛性，云何言眾生悉有佛性耶？

Sengliang comments: The second objection: if the nature is formed through causes and conditions, and the bodhicitta is the nature, then an icchantika should not sever it; if severed, it is not the nature. Baoliang comments: If the Buddha designates bodhicitta as the buddhadhātu, it is observable that icchantikas sever roots of goodness; in that case, icchantikas lack the buddhadhātu. How can it be said that sentient beings all possess the buddhadhātu?
