Sengliang comments: Now that the false self has been severed, one should know that the true self is amṛta. Sengzong says: Previously, the foolish and the wise were cited without specific distinction, so a differentiation must be made. Now it is said that if the noble ones of the two vehicles hear the perfect teaching, they will certainly be able to take and practice it; for such persons, it is amṛta. Therefore, we know that if ordinary persons cannot have faith and practice it, it is all poison to them. Baoliang says: The second section identifies the persons for whom it becomes amṛta. It explains that when those of the former three vehicles now hear the teaching of the single-essence three refuges, it entirely functions as amṛta for them. 'Thus exhorted to advance' clarifies that one who cultivates practice relying on the Great Vehicle becomes an elephant king among men.
