Sengliang notes: "Receiving understanding from a teacher, the principle understood is his place of security, compared to a house. When the teacher departs and he loses understanding, this is compared to another's house. The fundamental cause must necessarily manifest, and staying briefly without remaining long is compared to lodging. Losing understanding and giving rise to delusion is compared to sleep. Speaking of a self with a deluded mind, not arising from true understanding, is compared to talking in one's sleep."
