Sengliang comments: The various aggregates of the sages are the fruits of afflictions. If the fruits were severed, there should be no sages. As for 'speaking of the fruit within the cause', whenever one speaks of severing the cause of retribution, it is merely called severing retribution; this is called speaking of the fruit within the cause. The uncontaminated is not a cause of retribution, so it is not included in what is severed. As for 'I, from the body of mind', meditative concentration is mind, and the Brahmā world is the retribution of meditative concentration. Meditative concentration is able to obtain the body, so meditative concentration is called the body. As for 'there is no uncontaminated fruit or retribution', there is no retribution of pain or pleasure. As for 'never again generating outflows', not generating outflows is nirvāṇa itself; there is no dharma that can be severed.
