From here below is the fourth part: the Tathāgata again, in response to the initial question above, differentiates the phenomenon as distinct from space. "If it is said that nirvāṇa is not subsumed under the three periods of time and space is likewise, this meaning is not so" cites it to negate it as a whole. From "Why?" onward explains it. Within the explanation there are three points: first, clarifying that the phenomenon is different from space; second, from "The nature of space..." onward, clarifying that space is different from the phenomenon; third, from "Therefore I say that the buddha-nature is eternal..." onward, summarizing their difference. In the first section, "Nirvāṇa is existent" broadly clarifies its difference from space. Below it demonstrates it separately: being illuminated by wisdom, it is called "visible." Being intimately joined with the mind, it is called "realizable." Being endowed with a body of equal dharma-gates and an inconceivable transformation body, it is said to be "form." Capable of being sought and entered into by practitioners, it is called a "footprint." Capable of being expressed through discourse, it is called "phrases." Its essence being equipped with the myriad virtues, it is called "existent." Its marks of virtue being distinctly demarcated, it is spoken of as a "mark." Being grasped by the mind, it is called an "object-condition." Being the shared destination of the noble ones, it is called a "refuge." Being free from worldly commotion, it is spoken of as "tranquil." Its essence having no dark obscurations, it is called "radiance." Perpetually cut off from danger and fear, it is called "secure." Being the ultimate destination, it is said to be the "other shore." "Therefore it can be called not subsumed under the three periods of time" summarizes and concludes it.
