10.97

自下第三教修斷意。句別有四：一念修有益，「我若修道，當因是力破壞諸苦」。二「是人觀」下，由前思念令惑輕薄。三「既見」下，由惑輕薄，心生歡喜。四「復作念」下，知道力大，決意修習。自下第四因修得離，初離煩惱、後明離苦。

Next below, the third teaches the intention to cultivate severing. Distinct clauses are four: 1. Thinking that cultivation brings benefit: "If I cultivate the path, I shall, through the power of this, destroy all sufferings." 2. From "this person contemplates" onwards, through the previous reflection, he causes delusion to become light and tenuous. 3. From "having seen" onwards, because delusion is light and tenuous, joy arises in his mind. 4. From "again he thinks" onwards, knowing that the power of the path is great, he resolves to cultivate and practice it. Next below, the fourth is attaining freedom through cultivation; first being free from afflictions, afterwards clarifying being free from suffering.
