Below, the Buddha replies to it: first responding to the latter question, clarifying upholding rather than violating; from "meaning one endowed with correct" onward responds to his initial question, clarifying the presence of the teacher's virtues. In the former, he first rebukes: "Do not say that these are people who break precepts." Below, the explanation has four parts: first, raising the matter of future obstacles; second, Kāśyapa requesting: at that time, how should one conduct transformation? Third, the Tathāgata replies: it is for this reason that I allow monks who uphold the Dharma to adapt to the secular world and propagate transformation, which clarifies that the monk has no violation; fourth, from "If in all states" onward, following on this, clarifies that laypersons who are able to protect incur no violation.
