自下第三辯經名德令人樂持。先總勅聽，許為宣說。上已許說，迦葉遂請，不得即說，故今重勅，許為宣說。下正說中有八復次：初一正出經名功德、次四明其經教功德、後三彰其經義功德。教為此岸，義為彼岸。

From here on, the third [part] distinguishes the merits of the sūtra's name to make people joyfully uphold it. First, he generally enjoins them to listen, promising to proclaim it for them. Above, he had already promised to speak, but Kāśyapa then made a request, so he could not immediately speak; therefore, he now re-enjoins them, promising to proclaim it. Below, within the direct explanation, there are eight iterations: the first directly presents the merit of the sūtra's name; the next four clarify the merit of the sūtra's teaching; the last three reveal the merit of the sūtra's meaning. The teaching is this shore; the meaning is the other shore.
