第二釋中，先問起發，驅惡違等，故問何故。下對釋之，句別有四：一明聲聞謂佛滅度，我實不滅，舉理顯非；二「如汝」下舉事類顯；三明菩薩說佛不滅；四「如汝」下舉喻類顯。

In the second explanation, there is first a question to initiate it: driving away the bad violates [compassion] and so forth, therefore it asks why. Below it explains this in response, with four distinct sentences: first, explaining that the śrāvakas think the Buddha passes into extinction, whereas I in truth do not pass into extinction, adducing principle to reveal their error; second, from "just as you" onward, adducing an event to illustrate by analogy; third, explaining that bodhisattvas say the Buddha does not pass into extinction; fourth, from "just as you" onward, adducing a metaphor to illustrate by analogy.
