五中，初二有何差別？前一彰己無明未斷、後一顯己無明在故，不得如來三事涅槃。次二何別？前一彰己四住未斷、後一顯己四住在故不得安樂，故有五別。

Among the five, what is the distinction between the first two? The former shows that their own ignorance has not been severed; the latter clarifies that because their own ignorance remains, they cannot attain the Tathāgata's three-element nirvāṇa. What is the distinction between the next two? The former shows that their own four entrenchments have not been severed; the latter clarifies that because their own four entrenchments remain, they cannot attain peace and joy. Thus there are five distinctions.
