2.83

上來問其入證行體，下問所依。所依有二：一明見性必由依經、二明解經必由解字。「云何菩薩見難見性」問初義也。性既難見，菩薩何因能得見之？下答依經所以能見。「云何解滿及以半字」問後義也。字之半滿備有多義，下佛為辯，故令得解。「云何諸調」至此，第二問其捨相入證之行。

The above questions concerned the substance of the practice of entering realization; below, the questions concern its reliance. The reliance is twofold: first, explaining that seeing the nature necessarily relies on the sūtra; second, explaining that understanding the sūtra necessarily relies on understanding letters. "How can a bodhisattva see the nature that is difficult to see?" asks about the first point. Since the nature is difficult to see, by what cause can a bodhisattva come to see it? Below, the answer explains that through relying on the sūtra one is able to see it. "How does one understand the complete and the half letters?" asks about the second point. The half and complete letters have manifold meanings; below, the Buddha explains them so that understanding is attained. From "How does the Tamer..." up to here is the second [section], asking about the practice of relinquishing marks to enter realization.
